Detoxification processing and utilization of cotton cake

In recent years, due to the rapid expansion of animal husbandry and feed prices, some farmers and feed processing households use cotton cake as feed for livestock and poultry. This is undoubtedly a good thing, but undamaged cotton cake is not suitable for livestock. Poultry feed. Because the ordinary pressed cotton cake contains free gossypol and cycloacrylic acid, not only toxic to livestock and poultry, but also make the protein and egg yolk discoloration, degeneration, affect the quality of meat and eggs. As gossypol accumulates in livestock and poultry, long-term feeding can cause chronic poisoning of livestock and poultry. In particular, long-term overfeeding of non-toxic virus-treated cotton cakes poses a direct threat to the farming households, and it also poses a non-negligible hazard to the health of consumers. Therefore, the use of cotton cake as feed for livestock and poultry must be treated after detoxification processing. The specific method of detoxification is as follows:

First, detoxification processing method

1, boiling detoxification method. Before the feeding, the cotton cake is crushed, and 5 grams of zinc sulfate per 10 kilograms of cake is stirred well, and is put into a pot and boiled for 5-8 hours, which effectively removes toxic substances such as gossypol and cycloacrylic acid.

2, plus iron detoxification method. The combination of iron and gossypol can form complexes that are not absorbed by livestock and poultry, and the absorption of gossypol is greatly reduced. Soaked cotton cake with 0.1-0.2% ferrous sulfate solution for 24 hours, the detoxification rate of gossypol reached 90-100%.

3, lime detoxification method. The crushed cottonseed cake is soaked with 2% hydrated lime solution. After 24 hours, yellow water is filtered off, and then washed repeatedly with clean fresh water for 4-5 times to detoxify and feed the livestock and poultry.

4, natural fermentation detoxification method. The crushed cotton cake is blended into barley or wheat bran at a ratio of 10%, soaked in a cylinder, allowed to naturally ferment for 7-10 days, filtered out of yellow water, and rinsed again with clean fresh water 2-3 times. Feeding livestock and poultry.

Second, should pay attention to the issue of feeding cotton cake

1. Feeding pigs with cotton cake should be stopped for 7-10 days after feeding for 1-2 months. It should not be fed continuously for a long period of time. When feeding, it can be used together with a large amount of green fodder. When it is hot in summer, it can be fed less. In winter and spring season, it can be increased appropriately. Fat pigs are best to stop feeding cotton cakes 1 month before slaughter. It is better not to feed cotton cakes for piglets under 15 kg body weight, late pregnancy or nursing sows.

2. Breeders can never feed cotton cakes, because gossypol can damage the yolk membrane and affect the hatching rate. The broiler feeding amount is 10-20%, the broiler chicken is 8-15%, and the laying hen is only 5-10%. Feeding livestock and poultry should use cotton seed cakes produced by screw presses or pre-pressing leaching rakes. Rural old-fashioned soil pressed cotton cakes are not suitable for feeding livestock and poultry due to too many shells.

3. When dairy cows feed cotton cakes, their amount should not be too much, otherwise it is easy for the butter produced by dairy cows to harden and reduce the milk quality. Generally, the amount of cotton cake used in burdock rations should not exceed 2%, and it may be more appropriate after six months. As the cotton cake is a hot feed, excessive feeding for a long time will cause dry feces or exudation of livestock and poultry and other undesirable phenomena. If these phenomena occur, a small amount of thenardite can be added to the feed and should be stopped immediately after the bad phenomenon disappears. use.
