Sun Baoguo explained several reasons for the objective need for food additives. The first is based on the objective need to improve the quality of food. Formula milk powder is the closest to breast milk that depends on food additives. Of the 50 ingredients in most formula milk powders, more than 40 are food additives. Second, because of the need for food preservation, many harmful microorganisms will multiply quickly if there are no preservatives in the food. Such reasons include food insurance, craftsmanship, improvement of color, flavor, and the like.
